Here I am, sparking a debate about why a film may or may not be a photography medium that is making a comeback. Couldn’t say that I am good at debating but in more simple words, I am ready to give my opinion about this subject.
The comeback of the film is a great thing to happen in the world of photography. Digital and film photography might be in the debate about who might take the top of the best product. First, there are plenty of great advantages in favor of film photography, such as already mentioned in the Art by Pino article 9 Reasons Why Film Photography Is Coming Back (https://www.artbypino.com/blog/film-photography-revival): authenticity, richer images, better quality, great composition-wise, and so on. It is indeed lots of advantages to film photography. Pictures look authentic, also taking them is getting easier because of improved technology which lets photographers take and produce images faster and more efficiently. But even though, I do not think that film photography will take over digital picture places. There are millions of phone users who are taking pretty much astonishing images, not to mention professional photographers who are investing in the equipment and increasing their photography knowledge. So, basically, everyone can shoot great pictures with a digital camera with ease and with not too much time and expensive equipment needed.
Still, don’t want You to think that I am burying film photography or thinking of it as just of privileged people’s lifestyle or hobby, not. Even though film photography, according to James Maddison’s article (https://fstoppers.com/film/are-nearing-end-film-bubble-what-will-film-world-look-after-570147), is getting more and more expensive and fixing this kind of equipment also empties a wallet well, that is what is making film photography exclusive and more valuable. The more time and work are in the photograph, the more valuable it is. I strongly believe that film photography might not be every teenager’s way to take a picture, but it is great to shoot the memories of weddings, birthdays, or any other special events, to put some more spirit, could say.
If a film may be a photography medium in a graphic design field? Might be! Every single person has different tastes and film might be someone’s favorite. Even though I believe that these two photography mediums can take equally first place and it is just a matter of taste, choice, and need, which one will be selected for the product to be done.
